We are extremely pleased and humbled to recieve the ACRL STS Innovation award for 2013. The DCP Toolkit has been a labor of love (mostly) for us and to have it be publicly recognized by our colleagues and community is in a word "awesome". INTRODUCING THE DATA CURATION PROFILES DIRECTORY - Nov 26, 2012
We are pleased to announce the Data Curation Profiles Directory. Working with the Purdue University e-Pubs repository, the DCP Directory provides a suite of services to support the publication of data curation profiles, including assigning a DOI for each published DCP, improved visability for profiles through inclusion in indexing and discovery tools, and a commitment to the preservation of DCPs through CLOCKSS and Portico.

DATA CURATION PROFILES SYMPOSIUM ON SEPT. 24, 2012 - Sept 17, 2012
The Purdue University Libraries will be hosting a symposium on data curation, and the roles Data Curation Profiles might play in addressing issues related to research data on Monday September 24, 2012, from 9:00 am to 2:15 pm EST USA.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services funded grant, “Understanding Curation through the use of Data Curation Profiles” provided workshops in using the Profile to over 360 librarians. The goal of this project was to provide librarians with the knowledge, training and means to engage faculty in discussions about their research data, how they work with and manage their data, and their needs in organizing, sharing, publishing, or preserving this data. The symposium will be a wrap-up of the research that went into the project.
The schedule of panels and presentations is as follows:
- Keynote Address: “The Deluge of Data Metaphors: grappling with the meaning of data curation” (9:00 – 9:30am) - Chuck Humphrey, Data Library Coordinator from the University of Alberta Libraries.

NEW DATA CURATION PROFILES PUBLISHED - Aug 18, 2012
Ten new Data Curation Profiles on a variety of subjects have been published . Five were produced from a collaboration between the Libraries and an Agronomy Lab at Purdue University and five were produced by librarians at Cornell. Several more Profiles are under review for publication at this time. Instructions for submitting Data Curation Profiles for publication can be found here.
DATA CURATION PROFILE WORKSHOPS COMPLETE - No Date
The slate of 12 Data Curation Profile Workshops sponsored by the IMLS are complete. Way back in March 2011 we offered the first Data Curation Profiles Workshop at the Computers in Libraries conference in Washington D.C. Just last month, March 2012, we came full circle and offered the 12th DCP Workshop at Computers in Libraries 2012. Thanks to all who attended!
THREE DATA CURATION PROFILE WORKSHOPS OFFERED IN FALL 2012 - No Date
The Data Curation Profiles Workshop will be offered at the University of Texas in Austin, TX on October 3, 2011, in Monterey, CA as a pre-conference for Internet Librarian on October 15, 2011, and at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY on November 7, 2011.

THREE ADDITIONAL WORKSHOPS ADDED - May 15, 2011
Three DCP workshops have been added. On Friday Sept 9, 2011, the CIC will host a DCP Workshop at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. On Monday October 3, 2011, GWLA will host a DCP Workshop at the University of Texas, Austin. And on Thursday March 24, 2012, Computers in Libraries will host a post-conference DCP Workshop in Washington DC. Registration for these workshops will likely open two months or so before the date of the workshop.

GWLA TOOLKIT WORKSHOP - April 4, 2011
24 librarians from near (Washington, Oregon, Idaho) and far (Texas, and Hawaii!!) attended the Data Curation Profiles Toolkit workshop at the University of Washington at Seattle. It was a very enthusiastic and interactive group, and a great experience for all. We look forward to hearing back from attendees about their expereinces with the Toolkit.

SOFT LAUNCH OF THE NEW DATA CURATION PROFILES WEBSITE - Nov 30, 2010.
A new data website to support the dissemination and use of the Data Curation Profiles Toolkit is available at http://www.datacurationprofiles.org. The new website includes access to the Data Curation Profiles Toolkit (registration is required), information on upcoming workshops to teach the use of the Toolkit, and forums to discuss or ask questions about the Toolkit or related issues. DATA CURATION TOOLKIT RELEASED - Nov 30, 2010.
For the past year the project team has been working to develop the Data Curation Profiles (DCP) toolkit. The DCP toolkit can used by information professionals to develop their own Data Curation Profiles on faculty researchers at their own institutions. The Data Curation Profile Toolkit is now publicly available at http://www.datacurationprofiles.org (registration is required). Completed Data Curation Profiles are also publicly available from this site.
SECOND GRANT AWARDED - Aug 1, 2010.
Purdue University has been awarded an IMLS grant to create a workshop to introduce the Data Curation Profiles Toolkit and teach how it can be used as a means of investigating, uncovering, and capturing the data needs of faculty researchers. Through hands-on activities this full day workshop will cover how the Data Curation Profile was designed, provide a template and approaches for using it to interact with faculty researchers, illustrate the types of information it gathers, and describe various scenarios for which the profiles can be useful. Workshops will be offered in March 2011 in conjunction with Computers in Libraries in Washington D.C., with other dates and locations to be announced.
